The Tyranny of Framing Our Attention

I did this drawing back in September while I was seeing a counselor. It's just something that I've been thinking a lot about. There's a lot of symbolism behind this, just because I was trying to express everything that had happened. This drawing is not me, but it's someone in the family.

This took a week to draw. All the while, I watched Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I had to tweak her eyes in photoshop. They were all wrong in the actual drawing. I still don't think I fixed it. It was also really hard to line up the scan. It was done on 11x14 Bristol paper and my scanner is really tiny. It only fits computer paper. I used Faber-Castell and Micron pens for this. Oh, and I think I used a reference for the bird, but there's no way I can find it again. It's been too long.

Also, the title is from the song Past Due by The Weakerthans. It reminds me too much of this event.
